Unhelpful and irresponsible

Generate deactivated my account without informing me yet took money from my agency and did not return it telling them or me that my account had been deactivated. It was only when I was not paid and investigated that I found out what they had done. Then they reactivated my account saying I had no P45 (triggering emergency tax) when the P45 was one they had never given me when they deactivated my account. I spent hours on the phone to HMRC trying to sort out what was Generate's incompetent and sloppy error. At no stage did they apologise or accept any responsibility for their error but we're defensive and rude. I have had similar experiences with them over the years where they blamed HMRC for their mistakes. I finally moved to a more competent umbrella company. I should have done it ages ago.

Very unprofessional company

Refused to pay sick pay that I was entitled to had to get my agency to speak to them twice and send emails but still they didn’t think I was entitled when I was speaking to HMRC on Monday seems like an office of going girls that don’t have a clue about their job or care about doing a good job

Really unprofessional

Refused to pay my sick pay after being ill they don’t reply to emails . Kept having to get my agency to speak to them in order for it to go though but it still didn’t and they didn’t have the curtesy to tell me either seems like an office full of incompetent girls that don’t know how to process sick pay worse umberella company I have ever dealt with they don’t care or have an professionalism about them at all speaking to HMRC about it on Monday as I know I am in my rights

Avoid this umbrella company at all costs!!! Generate FS delay payments and deduct a significant amount from your wages.

Incorrect tax code for almost a year

Despite me jumping through hoops to provide requested paperwork p45s, my tax free allowance hasn't correctly been added, resulting in me paying way too much tax. All that generate persist in saying, is that I need to speak to HMRC; who themselves have sent me back to generate. Frustrating and expensive.

3rd lockdown now. You’d also think having completed this JRS in the first lockdown it would have been quicker this time round? Still ‘awaiting clarity’ from government. They are providing no clear guidance and having to chase them to see where they are up to with it. I’ve been told on the phone that they do not want to pay employer national insurance contributions, hence delay. Currently no money and unable to work because I’M PREGNANT and classed as clinically vulnerable. So unfair. This is very disappointing from Generate and hope they get clarity and JRS running ASAP. They should also backdate payments to compensate, which I’m told they might not do this time... even more unfair!

Generate have just emailed to say they're paying through the summer and covering all costs themselves. After a slightly slow start to the furlough process, they've been first class since!

Agency blaming umbrella, umbrella blaming the agency as to why I have not seen a single payment. Who is running who here? I have no money, no assignment and no faith in this industry anymore. You have seriously let me and my family down

Very poor communication. Repeatedly promised contact by X date and then heard nothing. They also refused to backdate furlough as they 'couldn't go back into the last tax year'. Also lots of mix ups with employments start dates meaning very low furlough amounts. Additionally, they are withholding payments for 3 weeks to 'make sure people haven't worked' in addition to the 1 week delay already in place to collect time sheets, meaning we have a gap of 3 weeks with no pay that won't be made up until furlough ends. My agency also had issues communicating with them and getting them to furlough fairly. Dragged their heels the whole way, I've repeatedly had to chase them and their phone lines are impossible to get through on.

Took a while for them to say they were paying JRS, but as I understand this was the same for all umbrellas. Good communication

Hi, I've worked for several umbrella companies over the years and have to say generates communication has always been pretty good. Throughout this furlough saga, this has been the same, which helps relieve some of the stress.

Given their position, I believe Generate has handled the furlough scheme in an extremely professional manner. Their phone lines were always open and my questions were always answered with care, honesty and empathy. They kept me informed throughout the process with relevant updates on their position. When I had a query that the contractor care team couldn't answer, they passed my details on to their director Adam. He called me that day and took the time to help me with my concerns. I am now receiving weekly furlough payments based on my 80% of my average earnings.

this has to be the worst Umbrella out there! Even before Covid-19 they were shocking! Now, not to pay a bean. I genuinely hope their contractors and agencies leave them high and dry, as they have with me!
