Project People

No support and Late pay..

I have finished a contract with Project people 2 weeks ago, and am not getting fully paid till one month later in July. Repeated request are just stressing me up. I advice not working with them even if you are getting a good rate as you wont get paid in time. In my 11 years experience as a contractor Project People seem to be the worst agency. I advise not using SmartWork as an umbrella company either ( they charged me to process an invoice ahead of time).

Don't pay on time.

Unfair IR35 assessment
Division: Telecoms
Don't pay on time, don't respond to emails, don't honour the committments they make to you. Avoid if possible. I'm stuck with them for this role, unfortunately.

Avoid Project People

Unfair IR35 assessment
Division: Information Technology
As a contractor my experience with Project People has not been pleasant. They are saying that they try to work with you, but actually work against you and is their way or no way. If you have other options try and avoid this company. Unfortunately I have been stuck with them, but I would change it immediately if I could.

Outside IR35. Contract assessed through Qdos and SDS provided. The company is following the SoW model and dedicated to being outside of IR35 for all its contracts. For my project, they even helped the end client to move into an IR35-safe working model. I feel confident with Refineri as they take the issue seriously.

DXC Technology
Unfair IR35 assessment
Division: Secure Accounts
Blanket assessments via Brookson Legal, not directly relevant to the role. Very much a take it or leave it attitude from DXC. No options to discuss or assess fairly. Wasn't overly surprised as in many cases the Company treat contract staff very much like temps, rather than specialist expertise. Rolled off the role now.

Unfair IR35 assessment

Got a role through the agency, to then be told I needed extra PPE and training as transfers to the vessel are done by helicopter. When I asked who will pay for the training and extra PPE I was told it was me, had arguments with Siemens, Shirley Parsons and the umbrella company. All state I am a contractor and to use a P87 tax form to claim it back. You can't claim PPE back as the employer by law should provide. No extra uplift on pay or any reimbursement from any of them. When I did the questions on the government website for inside or outside IR35 I was outside as I had to purchase my own PPE and training, but they have put a blanket on all parties. I was not given an individual assessment as I was told that all EHS are inside IR35.

SDS found the contract to be outside, originally the end client blanket banned PSCs. However has since made a u-turn after a number of contractors threatened to terminate. BJSS worked with the client to ensure contract was fully compliant with a outside of IR35 judgment. Unlike many other organisations BJSS and the end client have tried to navigate the new legislation fairly, with professionalism and due care.

Which assessment tool / company was used? KPMG Sofy Have you been given an SDS? (an individual assessment) Yes Are projects impacted? No however cost most have increased as I have upped my fee to cover the extra tax. Are contractors leaving? Not that I'm aware of. What's the atmosphere like? Excellent, there was no problem negotiating my fee. How are you feeling? Great

Unfair IR35 assessment
Your IR35 status at BJSS almost wholly depends on the project you have been assigned to. In other words, it relies on the view of the client. This means pretty much all public sector projects are deemed inside whereas only some private sector contracts are deemed outside. This of course ignores the working practices of the individual contractor. To to be fair to BJSS they are open to outside IR35 contracts, but are often restricted by their client's views.

Contract through Hexaware but working on a project for an end client. No assessment, just blanket approach with a choice of 2 Umbrellas to choose from. It appears that my current day rate is expected to subsidise ER's NI, Apprentiship Levy and umbrella mark-up. Add on PAYE andit's an easy decision for me when you're already suffering from project fatigue.
