IR35 u-turn made
Division: IT
Telent have decided to postpone any decision about IR35 for a year allowing all those contractors who didn't move to PAYE or FTC to carry on contracting based upon their "outside" IR35 contract. Only two contractors in the organisation were offered SOW contracts with an external company and now these have been withdrawn. They fundamentally do not understand how to work with contractors despite employing many hundreds of contractors.

IR35 fairly assessed
Division: IT
They used the HMRC assessment tool and had a meeting to discuss. Follow up meeting to discuss future role. Was told most of the contractors have accepted inside ir35 status and will go direct PAYE with agency.

Outside IR35 banned
Division: Application
Looks like they don't understand the substitution clause properly and are seeking to reject all substitutes which will bring everyone inside. They also don't understand that this will results in retrospective tax inspections upon contractors who were previously outside IR35. Large number of contractors here so workforce will be crippled.
