People Leaders completing blanket role based assessments using a spreadsheet containing CEST questions. Answering questions based on the potential future relationship, apparantly.
Quite a feat since a) new (inside) contracts remain unseen, b) many people leads have no idea of current or future working practice for the many random contractors they are attempting to assess and c) nuances around areas such as substitution (as a small example) are completely misunderstood by these people leads, the HR team attempting to coordinate the chaos, or delivery teams attempting to understand the impact of people voting with their feet. This bank should have followed the lead of others in banning PSCs....at least that might have saved them some blushes.
Many, many challenges have been returned swiftly to the small team coordinating the assessments, and the volume has left them unable to confirm when they will respond - so they are quoting the full 45 days they're allowed which leaves many contractors hanging and with no choice but to walk. A recruitment freeze accompanying this activity is impacting a large amount of in flight projects. No clear reason for the freeze but one would assume a lack of funds, so contractors walking does not appear to be of much concern as I would guess there are far bigger issues to worry about.
