I am a contractor with Skanska UK. I am outside IR35. I have been working here for 6 months. My project will continue for at least another 6 months. I did pay to do the QDOS questionnaire at the start of the year. The result SDS showed that I was outside IR35. There are a number of contractors on this project. I understand that most people tested outside. This QDOS decision has NOT been overturned as yet by any mangers on this project. The project director and project managers on my project have said today when I showed them your feed that they have no intention to overturn any of the SDS from QDOS. I assume the statement that all contractors have been found inside IR35 is therefore false. It may have happened to some contractors but not all. The atmosphere is good. I am working on project plans for the next 6+ months. I am confident that my contract will be extended. I trust the project director/manager.
Describing the ban on engaging contingent workers who work through PSCs as a “supply chain change”. They have taken advice and rather than risk giving a bad determination (and risk HMRC looking at their other tax affairs), GfK have decided to only engage contingent workers through a nominated umbrella - Giant. No choice of umbrella given. Development projects impacted, those staying are mostly feeling forced in to this situation regardless of whether we think we’re in or outside IR35.
No negotiation, everyone deemed to be inside, no SDS feeling vexed due to living in a remote location have to pay for all travel accommodation expenses,. How many permanent members of staff would accept that plus a 360 mile round trip
