Jennifer was really great and informative when I called for advice. I needed answers to some questions I had and Jennifer talked me through my options and discussed their Premium plan with me too. We spoke for a while and she put me at ease and made everything seem very effortless and easy to understand. It is not often that you find someone who is willing to spend time clarifying and simplifying terminology and processes to help you better understand something like this. I am excited to come across to Giant in the next few months and if all the staff are as helpful as Jennifer then I know I am in safe hands.

RBS/NW have a high turnover rate for contractors, their day rates are lower than average and their decision to ban Ltd co engagements has completely killed any chance of holding on to anything other than 'permietractors' who caused this IR35 mess in the first place.

Giant PAYE, very poor onboarding process with Giant, vague and contradictory info re pay and deductions. RLG now moving to manage service for contingent workforce - Capco and TCS.

Banning all PSC no individual assessments. People are sounding out about leaving/not renewing. Pretty low making myself unemployed due to decisions which are from others.

PAYE / Umbrella only from start of new tax year.

AMS gave me the option to register with Giant payroll. I found this company unprofessional and uneducated when it comes to IR35 or even umbrella for that matter. They started quoting expenses which I know I can only claim on a P87. I decided to listen to my friends advice and registered with ADVANCE contracting solutions - umbrella. Very good , knowledgeable, fair price each week and they have helped me claim mileage and food each week. The best out there by far .. 01244564564 is their number

Recently extended contractors to remain in out of IR35 roles while they got Legal advice. Email landed today, 3rd April which basically forces all contractors into employment by umbrella firms. To say I’m completely fed up is an understatement. I’m working long hours on a Covid project team and this is a real kick in the teeth. If they are risk averse, it’s ironic really that they have extended us all in OUT of IR35 roles for the first month of the 20/21 tax year!

Due to their location in Swindon, they will capitalise on the fact that many contractors won’t have a choice but to accept being forced to work under an umbrella and for less, as there are few other large employers in the area. Plus, they’re desperate to save costs - with funding cut for the majority of work requiring investment. So they’ll be quite happy to lose contractors who decide to leave. They are literally holding people to ransom. On the flipside, will be their loss when they do need to rehire.. sh*tting in their own nest here.

No U-turn. Still flawed or role-based blankets.

Waiting for official communication but sounds like a u-turn to refer back to previous engagement before blanket ban of no PSCs. Wonder if the extra time will give them the space needed to think about how to properly engage contract work force or whether the same blanket ban will happen again next year.
